The Power of the Truth

Hey there! Let's talk about the power of the truth for a moment. I believe that the truth not only sets you free but can also act as an anchor of strength when you are most vulnerable. I talk about this a lot in the Inner Guru method. 

So, why is the truth so important? A few reasons…

  1. Seeing things as they really are can help us separate from the stories we create about our circumstances. Giving us the most useful data or information we need to respond in healthy productive ways.

  2. The truth can help you become more aware of any patterns in your thinking or behavior that may be holding you back. When you are facing a difficult situation or decision, it can be easy to get lost in your thoughts, emotions, and opinions. That's where the truth acts as a reference point that you can always come back to in order to gain clarity and perspective. By consistently examining the truth of a situation, you can reveal underlying beliefs or fears that you can work on shifting.

  3. And ultimately, the truth can help you access your inner wisdom and intuition. By staying grounded in reality and in alignment with your values, you can make decisions that are more authentic and meaningful to you.


So, there you have it. The truth is a powerful tool in the Inner Guru method, and it can set you free from the thought cycle that's been holding you back. If you would like to know how you can best get to the truth at any moment you might be triggered or feeling overwhelmed.

Here is a four-step process from the Inner Guru Method you can try to see how it can help you break free from the cycle of the story,  access your inner wisdom, and get to the truth of the matter. 

4-Step Inner Guru Process

Step 1: Stop and breathe-Take a deep breath and calm down. This will help you become more present in the moment. It will calm your sympathetic nervous system down and get you to a state of homeostasis so you can think clearly. 


Step 2: Feel it and Observe- Allow those authentic emotions to be seen and heard. Let them flow. This might feel scary at first if they are big emotions. Trust me! They will move faster if you take a moment to acknowledge them in their full glory. You can do this safely by removing yourself and going to a private quiet location, or you can journal how you feel. (It’s never a good idea to let them out onto another person)

Then, observe. Look at the situation and yourself from a non-judgmental perspective. Notice what you are noticing. Observe the emotions that you are feeling, the thoughts that are running through your mind, and the actions that you are taking. It’s kind of like you are a scientist collecting data for a research project. 

Once the energy moves and you feel a bit calmer and more at rest,...move on to step 3. Take what time you need to feel it before moving on. 

Step 3: Get to the Truth- This step takes practice, but it's important to be patient and persistent. Try to become aware of the thoughts that are fueling your emotions and actions. Identify what you can be absolutely 100% certain is true about the situation. Free of the story or perceptions. 

Step 4: Make a Choice- This step is all about breaking the cycle. Choose a positive affirmation, mantra, or statement that will help you shift your perspective and choose a new direction. Or choose an action that is based in truth rather than the emotion or story. Remind yourself of the truth in your present situation.


As you practice these four steps, you will be able to calmly and clearly handle those big emotions or difficult circumstances. You will learn to become aware of your thoughts and emotions that influence your choices.
